Happy birthday to our oldest son Mason!

Mason, as your father, I am so very proud of who you are.

You excel in whatever you set your mind to.

Your spirit and heart are strong and faithful.

Insight and compassion are evident in everything you are about.

Thank you for loving God and loving life.

Thank you for being you!

I hope you have a fantastic day.

Love, Dad

My beautiful bride and beautiful firstborn son….

Happy 22nd birthday day to our oldest son Mason!

Mason is in his final days of undergrad at Harding University. He already has a teaching gig lined up for the fall semester and will also begin the master of education program after the summer break.

Mason, God is good and He is faithful and He is trustworthy. It is amazing thing to witness you seek Him with all of your heart.

Hope you have a great day!

Love, Dad

Number one son turns 21 today. Man that does not seem possible. Mason is in his junior year at Harding and is doing brilliantly.

Mason, I am super proud of you. All the time. I probably brag a bit more than I should. But, I’m so grateful that you are you. Your commitment, loyalty, and dedication to your friends, family, and to God are inescapable. I know that our Father has amazing things in store for you and your life and in the lives of others through you.

Love you,

Our oldest turns twenty today.

It simply does not seem possible.

Mason, I am so very honored to be your dad.

I am proud of who you are.

And I am excited to be a part of the amazing ways our God will reveal Himself through you in the life that lies ahead.

One question: At twenty, how does it feel to have a dad in his thirties?

I love you Mason.

Today our oldest turns 19!  How awesome is that?

And he is two months older than I was when Tiersa and I got married….  How scary is that!?

Mason I am so very proud of the man you are and are becoming.  You bless your mom and I as your parents all the time.  And give us such joy in this life.

Thank you for your faithfulness to God and to your family.  Your loyalty to your friends.  Your compassion for others.  Your vision and commitment and dedication to those things that really matter.  Your faith which is evident in everything you do and everything you are about.

God is so very good!  And you make us so very proud!

I hope that today is a super day in Searcy, Arkansas.  And that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that your family loves you beyond measure.

…this picture was taken last semester at Harding.  Mason and everyone on stage have been hypnotized and are mad at Barney….

Dear Mason Blake,

The name sounded strong to us and since Mason was just one letter away from Jason we decided to go with it.  Mason Blake.  Our firstborn.

We have to admit that you’ve been our guinea pig.  Being the oldest hopefully the other three will benefit from our trial and error.  Not that we’ve got it all figured out.  But you have always had a way about you that made everything right.  Your optimism and enthusiasm and sense of humor continue to bring such joy to everyone who knows you, and especially to us.

You bless us.  You’ve blessed us since day one.  You’re heart and spirit are like none other.  Your soul is as deep as the ocean and wisdom beyond your years.  You make everyone around you better, just for being near them.  We know this more than anybody else, because you make us better.

And so today we want to thank you.  We want to thank you for who you are and who you are becoming.  To thank you for the leader and friend you are to your peers.  For the way that you live.  For the way that you love.  For the way that that you love others and the way that you love God.  For your kindness and your compassion.  For the way that you call others to commitment.  For your zeal, and for your tenacity.  For the confidence (and sometimes over-confidence) that you’ve always had.  And for the “in-with-both-feet” way that you approach life.

Mason remember this: you are respected and loved by everyone that knows you.  You are our oldest, and granted at times this carries with it its own responsibilities, but you are ours, and we love you.  You have always had greatness within you.  We’ve seen it in you since day one.  And although we are anxious as to where God will lead you in life, we are very excited. Always remember who you are and whose you are.  “Finally be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10).  “Being confident of this that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

With all that we are: Dad, Mom, Kacey, Jacob, and Bowen

Our oldest graduates high school tonight.  Tomorrow he starts paying rent!!!  😉
