I leave today for my annual pilgrimage to Austin Graduate School of Theology‘s Sermon Seminar. For the next three days God will speak. And I will strive to listen. We’ll hear from brilliant scholars (I’m particularly excited about the sessions with David Garland!). We’ll process and incorporate the mastery and humility of preaching from the likes of Eddie Sharp and others. I’ll spend time with friends like Shannon Jackson, Allan Stanglin, Jim Martin, Scott Elliot, Jimmy Mitchell, and Jim Gardner. We’ll eat our weight in hotel waffles, Chuy’s tacos, and Amy’s ice-cream. We’ll pray Tuesday night from the depths of our souls. And then on Wednesday evening, we’ll head our separate directions. And I’ll drive back to Tyler a better Christian, husband, father, friend, and minister.
Glory to God!
